Let’s dive into the world of animals!

Hello to all passionate travellers, adventurers, but mostly to everybody who truly loves animals!

Why am I telling you about animals? In today’s new article I would like to share with all of you my experience from visiting popular Zoo Contact in Slovakia. But firstly, I will write everything you need to know about the journey here and back which may help you.

Of course, the most suitable transport to Zoo Contact is by car. But if some of you don’t have the ability to travel by car, it’s okay to travel by train. All you have to do is get to Liptovský Mikuláš. Me and my friends travelled by train from Žilina. Train transport from Žilina to Liptovský Mikuláš is without any change.

Little problem occured when we got to station in Liptovský Mikuláš. Zoo Contact is located 3 kilometres from train station. You can get there by city bus towards Liptovský Trnovec or Liptovská Ondrášová. As I suppose, most of you want to plan this trip during summer holidays so the best way is to get on the bus number 13, which goes during this season.

However, the bus doesn’t go regularly and you may have to wait couple of minutes or even more. We didn’t want to wait that long so we were thinking of another alternative. Should we go by feet or call a taxi? Eventually, we decided to choose the second alternative. I would like  to recommend it to you too. The journey by taxi took us around 8 minutes. It was really a short distance and we payed 5 € exactly. It would take us around half an hour to get there if we went by feet and when we consider these hot summer temperatures, we didn’t really want to risk it.

If you plan this trip as a group of people you can divide the price among all of you and it will cost you less. We chose to try the taxi service of TAXI Liptov and City Taxi Liptovský Mikuláš.

Let’s move from the journey to the core of our trip – Zoo Contact. The entrance fee cost us 7€. Children to 1 year old are for free.

I rate this trip only positively. When I was younger I visited hundreds of zoological gardens in different cities and countries but I have never experienced straight, face-to-face contact with animals. Especially what I would like to appreciate is the staff. All of them were incredibly kind, willing to help and loving towards animals. They really made sure that they don’t get very tired from all visitors. When they saw that animals need to relax and have peace, quiet from visitors they didn’t let us go to cage, which is very professional of them. That’s the way it should be because it’s all about animals at the end. According to my humble opinion, animals looked very happy and fed well. I noticed that most of the staff working here consist of students, which work part-time during holidays. Despite the fact that they were only students they had a wide knowledge about the performed work. They knew all about animals, conditions they live in and were eager to tell us some interesting facts about the methods of care.

The biggest experience for me was holding a parrot. I was quite scared of it at first because I haven’t experienced anything like this before but it was very interesting feeling. Parrots sat down right on my head where they made a nest from my hair 😀

Then, we were allowed to feed them with little biscuits. Also, we went to see bears and baby lions. The only thing, which may drive you away from the long queue of people impatiently waiting to get inside. But you cannot do anything about it. If it’s a beautiful sunny day you can expect that lots of families will come right here and not only them. Zoo Contact is a place where teenagers and kids but also adults leave with unforgettable memories.

If you are out of ideas and don’t know, which place to visit next time don’t forget to visit Liptovský Mikuláš. Huge advantage is location. If you want to refresh after long journey you can go to one of the biggest aquaparks in Slovakia – Tatralandia. I suggest you to visit Liptov arena where is beautiful exposure of butterflies named Motýlia záhrada. It’s definitely worth visiting. These 3 attractions are very close to each other. You can easily manage to connect all of them and have a wonderful day with your loved ones.
